Every evening brings a new sunset. Different shades and colors make each one unique and being there at the right time makes all the difference.
I’ve been taking sunsets of the Flower’s pond for almost a year now and I have captured some great shots but tonight’s set of photos are by far my favorites. This may be due to my own skill level being higher and knowing just how to capture the best light or it may just be luck. Anyway here are the shots.
The first one has been heavily edited to give the surreal look I was after and the second one has only minor edits and is almost as captured. I took a lot more and had a hard time narrowing it down to two. I will post some more of this set in the galleries.

I finally got to take some night shots. This one is of the Christmas lights and sculptures/artwork on Fayetteville Street, Raleigh. I’m sure there will be more to follow.
Also………watch this space for upcoming England photos. We fly out on December 23rd and return January 4th.

While making a Christmas calendar for the family, I stumbled upon some photos that I’d forgotten to edit and post.
This was one of my favorites.

A picture I took in April of this year just got published in a new book entitled “Mastering the Nikon D90″. My picture “Flowers pond sunrise” made the opening page to chapter 6 of the book. I was given full credits for the photo and received a free advance copy of the book.
I only had my camera a little over a month when I took this picture. The photo was taken in early April 2009. While I was on my way to work I saw the start of a nice glowing sunrise when I left the house that morning and seeing I had the camera in my truck I pulled over at the local pond and snapped a few shots of the sun rising and the orange clouds with the pond in the foreground. I entered one of the photos in a contest on Nikonians.org, who were looking for pictures from their members to be published in a new book. A couple of days ago I received the new book in the mail and my photo had been used for the heading page of chapter 6.
The book is now on sale worldwide at Amazon.com

I took this one in the kitchen using the flash. I was surprised how well it came out and thought I’d show it off here.
